HOWARD STREET TUNNEL LIFT STATION/FORCEMAIN
Baltimore, Maryland
PROJECT INfO:
Key Staff Involved: Allen Williams
The Howard Street Tunnel is a major transportation route for CSX Railroad that was built in 1890. It ensures safe travel for products through a major downtown area of Baltimore, Maryland. It is located along the east side of Camden Yard Stadium .
AW Engineering partnered with EZ Electric to install a new pump station and force main due to sewer infiltrating the tunnel. The force main was approximately 1,200 linear feet and connected to a downstream City sewer manhole on the north side of tunnel. The lift station wet well was challenging to install due to the tunnel footings and space between the rail spurs and the footing depth.

BADGER RESORT
BADGER, CA
PROJECT INfO:
Project Timeline: 2017-18
Key Staff Involved: Allen Williams
Working closely with the Tulare County, AW Engineering provided the design of the private sewer system to accommodate a total of 63 single family residents for Badger Resort. The developed includes public water system (such as water line, storage tank, water wells), sewer mains and services line along with septic tank system and leach lines. The development is located in Tulare County and is part of the Synanon Church Development.

*Lift Station and Black Bayou Force Main
Memphis, TN
PROJECT INfO:
Key Staff Involved: Allen Williams
Working collaboratively with the City of Memphis and an active local residents, the new plan included a new sewer lift station at the City of Memphis University of Memphis Water Treatment Plant and an approximate 8,500 linear feet of force main that was constructed within a concrete lined storm water conveying channel.
Due to sewer overflows, the City of Memphis was tasked with finding a way to increase sewer capacity in a fully developed area. The solution was to install this force main within the existing concrete channel.

CAYUCOS
*LIFT STATION
AND FORCE MAIN
CAYUCOS, CA
PROJECT INfO:
Key Staff Involved: Allen Williams
Designing and collaborating with Cayucos District and California Coastal Commission, improvement plans for a new 900 linear feet force main and lift station pumps/wet wells were developed.
Special challenges were handled efficiently with environmental concerns. This particular area is along the west side of Highway 1 and the location was difficult due to those concerns. In order to address the concerns, a force main was drilled by horizontal directional drilling techniques in order to limit the disturbance of the area. In addition, pleasing native planting material was used to screen the actual lift station area from local residents.
